There has been a ban in Bangladesh on Hindi films for almost 5 decades. But the ban was temporarily lifted in 2015 when Salmaan Khan’s starrer ‘Wanted’ was released in Bangladesh which became the first Bollywood film to release there. But the release of the film led to protests in Bangladesh by the local actors and filmmakers. The protestors ripped the posters of Wanted and also protested outside the theatres to boycott the film. Films including 3 Idiots, My Name Is Khan were also released but the ban was re-imposed at that time due to the protests and pressure from the local industry.

As per the reports, on Sunday, a total of 19 film associations decided that there should not be any problems in releasing Hindi films in Bangladeshi cinema halls. The film association also made the decision on Hindi movies after a meeting at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and suggested that 10 Hindi films should be released in Bangladeshi theatres every year.

Pathaan starring Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles is now expected to release in Bangladesh without any barriers.
