The blockbuster hit movie Ponniyin Selvan 1 was released on 30 September 2022 which stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram, and Trisha Krishnan. It was an epic historical action adventure film directed by Mani Ratnam. Few days back, the sequel of the film was announced titled ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’.

The film is going to hit the screens of cinemas on 28 April 2023. Recently it has been announced that the movie will be released in IMAX theatres worldwide on 28 April 2023. The trade expert Taran Adarsh also shared in his IG post saying, “MANI RATNAM’S ‘PS2’ ON IMAX… #PS2 - the second instalment of the Blockbuster hit #PS1 - will release in #IMAX theatres worldwide… 28 April 2023 release in #Tamil, #Hindi, #Telugu, #Malayalam and #Kannada… #PS2 in #IMAX2 in #Tamil and #Hindi only. #PonniyinSelvan #CholasAreBack #ManiRatnam #LycaProductions".
Talking about the story of the movie, these are the cats that have Vandiyathevan set out to cross the Chola land to deliver a message from the crown prince Aditha Karikalan. Meanwhile, Kundavai attempts to establish political peace as vassals and petty chieftains plot against the throne.
The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. But if we talk about its release in IMAX theatres then it will be released in Hindi and Tamil languages only. The movie will be released on 28 April 2023 clashing with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. The film also stars Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra in pivotal roles. It will be a battle between both the Bachchan ladies.
