The five franchises in the inaugural Women's Premier League were sold for a combined value of Rs. 4669.9 crores, providing BCCI with yet another enormous gain. As we know the authorities of BCCI ( Board of Control For Cricket In India) President Saurav Ganguly have already announced that the Women's premiere will start in 2023.
The resounding success of the IPL Media Rights e-auction (2023-27), according to Sourav Ganguly, is a sign of how well-established cricket is in the nation and should serve as the “greatest inspiration for all the future players”.The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering having five teams as well as permitting five overseas players a playing XI.

Moreover, Indian women cricketers have also said that Women's IPL will give more opportunities for girls to perform. On 9 December 2022 ( Board of Control For Cricket In India) invited bids for media rights for the Women's Indian Premier League (WIPL) for five years between 2023-27. BCCI said in a statement that “The Governing Council of the IPL invites bids from reputed entities to acquire the Media Rights for the Women's Indian Premier League Seasons 2023-2027, through a tender process”.
On 16 January 2023, Viacom18 Media Private Limited won the consolidated bid for media rights. At an auction in Mumbai organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Viacom18 won the rights with a bid of INR 951 crore, which translates to a per-match value of INR 7.09 crore. Now, today on 25 January 2023 BCCI announced the successful bidders for the Women’s Premier league. The combined bid valuation is INR 4669.99 Crore. In this bidding, Adani group was the highest bidder. He has bagged the Ahmedabad franchise a whopping total of Rs. 1289 crore.

Mumbai Indians Successfully attained a Mumbai franchise for 912.99 Crore. With bagging RCB the Bangalore team for Rs 901 Crores. Owners of Delhi Capitals paid Rs. 810 crores for the Delhi franchise, and Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd. paid Rs. 757 crores for the Lucknow squad.
BCCI secretary jay Shah also Twitter that “Today is a historic day in cricket as the bidding for teams of inaugural #WPL broke the records of the inaugural Men's IPL in 2008!
