Weekly Block Diwas : DC Jammu Avny Lavasa listens to public grievances at Chatha, Bhalwal

To get first-hand account of the public grievances, Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa today presided over the weekly Block Divas programme here at Chatha and Bhalwal. 

Several delegations from different Panchayats, besides scores of individuals apprised her about the problems being faced by them in day to day life. 

The main issues highlighted during the programme at Chatha were related to irregular supply of water and electricity, payment of land compensation, road connectivity, drinking water availability, cleanliness and up-gradation of sanitation etc. 

Shifting of the transformer, renovation of Balol Nallah, establishment of dispensary, connectivity to Shamshan Ghat were other issues. The DC asked the concerned to take up phase wise construction of Balol Nallah and target the vulnerable spots in the first phase so that people don't face any kind of inconvenience during the rainy season.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked to organise a special camp to convert NPHH into PHH before 26 January. The Deputy Commissioner inspected the stalls established by various departments at the venue to sensitise people regarding different government sponsored schemes.

The DC also inspected the door to door garbage collection service under Swachh Bharat Mission. Later, the Deputy Commissioner also visited Tehsil office Bhalwal to attend another public grievances redressal camp.

The DC gave a patient hearing to the delegations and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for early redress of their genuine grievances. She assured that the highlighted issues of public importance will be taken up with higher authorities, besides all the pendency and public service delivery slackness shall be reviewed thoroughly.

SDM South, Abhishek Abrol; SDM North, Akhil Sadotra; Tehsildar South, Harjeet Singh; Tehsildar Bhalwal, Ashok Chakraborty; BDO, Saima Sharif Khan along with other senior officers were present during the grievances redressal camps.
