Jay Shah (Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India) has congratulated Viacom 18 to win the Women’s IPL media rights. On Monday, the auction for the T20 league was handled by the cricket board in Mumbai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India discloses that Viacom 18 has won the bidding for the Women IPL media's rights which has been made for. They have won the auction for the women's IPL for a whopping Rs. 951 Crore for five years. 

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took over his social media platform and tweeted that “Viacom has committed Rs 951 Cr which means per match value of INR 7.09 cr for next 5 yrs(2023-27)…After pay equity, today’s bidding for media rights for Women’s IPL marks another historic mandate”. In March 2023, the Indian Cricket Board is anticipated to debut its ambitious franchise-based T20 league for female cricketers, which would be modelled after the Indian Premier League. In order to solicit bids from media organisations for the broadcast rights to the competition, which have been long sought after in Indian cricket, the BCCI published a tender in December 2022.

BCCI also launched and discloses the proposal for the right to own and operate the team in the inaugural Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) season later this year.

The “Invitation to Tender" ("ITT"), which will be made available upon receipt of payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 5,00,000 (Rupees Five Lakhs Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax, contains the specific terms and conditions governing the tender process, including eligibility requirements, the procedure for submitting bids, the rights and obligations of the proposed team, etc. In this document's Annexure A, the steps to obtain the ITT documents are listed. ITT will be offered for sale until January 21, 2023”.
