Haryana Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that various measures will be taken to reduce road accidents in the state by identifying accident prone areas. Apart from this, various effective steps will be taken by the traffic police to ensure that the traffic rules are followed so that the lives of the people can be saved.

Sh. Vij said this in a review meeting with the officers of the Police Department held here today.He directed the officers to take effective measures to reduce road accidents caused by animals in the state so that lives could be saved. 

Apart from this, he said that signage boards should also be installed on the roads of the state so that law abiding people can take advantage of these signs during journey.Sh. Vij said that in order to reduce road accidents caused by fog, the police should keep issuing advisories from time to time to alert people so that people can choose their journey according to the advisory. 

Apart from this, he said that the accidents caused by the arrival of animals on the roads should be solved by installing grills etc. Similarly, Sh. Vij instructed the police officers that action should be taken to stop illegal cuts on the roads/highways so that road accidents can be prevented. 

Apart from this, while giving instructions to the police officers, he said that the committee should be formed again regarding the deployment of road safety officers.A total of 19,93,010 challans were issued to all types of violators in the year 2022.

In the meeting, Inspector General of Traffic Police Sh. Hardeep Singh Doon apprised the minister that in the year 2022, a total of 19,93,010 challans were issued to all types of violators. At the same time, in the year 2022, 1,81,701 challans were made for the violators of lane driving. 

Similarly, in the year 2022, 82058 challans without seat belts, 2622 challans for drunken driving, 9394 cases of suspension of driving license were forwarded. Apart from this, 163 blackspots have been identified through iRAD application to identify accident prone areas, for which the concerned police officers have been directed to rectify them.

 Sh. Doon said that there are 45 police assistance booths on National Highway No. 44 and 48 and the police personnel of the booths attended to 2365 road accident victims and took 1476 people to the nearest hospital in the year 2022. The Inspector General of Police said that a proposal has been sent to the government regarding lane driving board, dial 112 board, light recovery crane, e-challan machine, CCTV camera on the highway, which is expected to be approved soon.

He informed the minister that 120 ANPR and speed detection and surveillance cameras have been installed at 20 different places on the highway to challan high speed vehicles and others. Apart from this, a proposal has been sent to the government to set up a police station and a police post on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway. 

Similarly, a proposal has also been sent to set up a highway department on the pattern of the Maharashtra State Highway Police.Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Sh. Hardeep Singh Doon and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
