Punjab Declares Pollution Control Board ‘Nodal Agency’
Pollution Control Board To Act As Secretariat For The Seiaa & Seac

The Punjab Government has declared the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) as ‘Nodal agency’ to act as a Secretariat for the ‘State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA)’ and ‘State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC)’. It was stated by an official spokesman of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment.He said that the PPCB would provide all Secretarial, Financial and Logistic support including accommodation, transportation and such other facilities to the Committee(s) for performing all statutory functions. Besides this, sitting fee, travel allowances/dearness allowance to the Chairman and Members of the SEIAA and SEAC would also be paid by the Punjab Pollution Control Board as per rules. He further said that this decision has been taken in pursuance of the notification of Ministry of Environment and Forest, GoI.
