Pratibha Singh calls on Union Urban Development Minister

Pratibha Singh Member Parliament from Mandi called on Union Urban Development Minister Shri Kamal Nath in New Delhi.Smt. Pratibha Singh requested the Union Minister to sanction Rs 68 crore central assistance for channelization of 67 Nallahs in State Capital Shimla. She said that these nallahs  cause massive loss of  property  during monsoon season and these nallahs pose great danger to life and property as they overflow during heavy rains in the monsoon causing great damage in the city. She said that all these nallahas would be channelized and their water will be stored by adopting water conservation measures. This stored water would be used during the summer season when the State Capital faces acute water problem. She said that the channelization will also help to solve the long pending water problem of the State Capital besides saving precious life and property.

Smt. Pratibha Singh requested the Central Government to provide funds for purchase of 300 mini buses for 13 towns of the State  under JNURM to provide cheap and convenient transport facilities to residents and tourists. She said that these towns were facing huge problem due to increasing number of vehicles. She said that mini buses will also help in checking the rising vehicle pollution problem in these towns. She said that 75 such buses are already plying successfully in the State Capital Shimla which has eased the problem of traffic jams and parking problem in the city.Smt. Pratibha Singh demanded the release of the second installment of  Rs 3.60 crore under solid waste management project  so as the work on the project could be expedited.

She demanded Central financial assistance of Rs 18499.43 lacs for improvement, augmentation and revision of existing /new water supply schemes for Dharamshala, Parwanoo, Rampur, Talai, Rewalsar, Sundernagar, Baijnath, Hamirpur, Sujanpur and Jogindernagar towns and said that State Urban Development Department has already submitted DPR of all these schemes. She requested the union minister to grant early approval and financial assistance for implementation of all these water supply schemes so as to provide permanent solution to the drinking water supply problem in the state .She requested for financial assistance of Rs 5 crore for establishment of Regional Urban Institute at Dharamshala in Kangra district and pleaded for releasing first instalment of Rs 50 lakhs for starting the construction work on the institute.
