Filmmaker Anand Gandhi Makes A Big Statement On The Block-Buster Hit ‘Kantara’

Kannada Movie Kantara from the past many days has made the headlines in the world of entertainment as the movie has crossed the maximum earnings this year. Not only has this movie competed with Bollywood's biggest project Brahmastara. As this movie has also crossed the same with the Bollywood movie.
Ever since Kantara Has become Nationwide fame. This Kannada blockbuster has been approximated with the Hindi horror film Tumbbad by many as both are established on mythology. However, the innovative director and co-producer of Tumbbad, Anand Gandhi has said that Kantara is “nothing like” his film. He said that Kantara celebrates“toxic masculinity and parochialism.”

He took over his special media account and wrote, “Kantara is nothing like Tumbbad. My idea behind Tumbbad was to use the horror as an apologue of toxic masculinity and parochialism. Kantara is a celebration of these (sic).”

Although he has gotten some hateful comments also on tweets and when one of the users noted that the filmmaker was brought up on “disconnect and self-loathing,” he wrote, “No, fellow human. Raised by these incredible women in profound love and self-assurance. Raised on the non-violence of Jaina thought, the intellectual rigour of Vedic and Vedantic wisdom, sympathetic synthesis of the Buddha, critical thinking of Kabir… What happened to you, human?”
