District Admin Rajouri, DECC organise Job Fair

1000 youth, 25 companies among corporations, educational Institutions participate in mega event

A mega Job Friar was today hosted here today to provide unemployed youth an opportunity to appear for recruitment in the private sector as per their qualification and skill abilities. District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, inaugurated the one-day Mega Job Fair organised by the District Administration Rajouri and District Employment and Counselling Centre with the aim to provide local youth employment avenues.

As per Deputy Director of the Employment and counselling centre, the hiring procedure involved 25 reputable companies, including Jamkash, Mahindra, LIC, the Crown International, SBI, IndusInd Bank, Education Institutions etc.

In addition to graduates, undergraduates, matriculates, and eighth graders, the employment fair attracted 446 students from polytechnic, ITI, and diploma programs. According to DECC, 262 chosen students and candidates were given offer letters on the spot, while 541 were  shortlisted for the next round.

In his inaugural address, the DDC highlighted the job fair's purpose and stated that it was intended to give the youth of the Rajouri district employment possibilities with various organisations. "A number of self-employment generation programmes have been introduced by the Government for the benefit of young and unemployed youth and we advise them to avail the benefit of the same," he added.

The DDC acknowledged that youth encounter numerous obstacles   while looking for employment and added that this massive job fair will provide them jobs based on their capabilities and educational background.

He also informed that the district administration was intending to hold similar events in remote areas and reaffirmed that the job fair will be made a recurring event. He asked the participating businesses to hire as many young people as possible in order to increase the district's employment rate.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC lauded the efforts of the District Employment and Counseling Center for bringing job seekers and employers at one place. He also appealed to the unemployed youth to opt for self-employment and become entrepreneurs to generate livelihoods for themselves and others.   

District Industries Centre, Handicraft Department, KVIB, Himayat, and Mission Youth, among the several other government agencies took part in the exhibition and provided information on different self-employment programmes offered by the government.

Later, the DDC handed over the keys of commercial vehicles to beneficiaries under the Mumkin Scheme of Mission Youth. The young people without jobs also thanked the district administration and the District Employment and Counseling Center for organising the job fair and urged that more activities like this be held in the future for their wellbeing.

ADDC, Pawan Kumar; the CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; DSEO, Sandeep Sharma; DDE, Qadeer Ul Rehman; ARTO, Shami Kumar; Employment Officer, Aslam Beig and other officers and officials from DE&CC were also present at the Fair.
