Elderline holds sensitisation programme at Doda

An awareness cum Sensitisation programme on Elderline 14567 was held today here in the Conference hall of the DC office complex.Programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan; SSP, Abdul Qyoom; CPO, SDMs, Tehsildars, DSWO and Field Response Leader (FRL) JK Elderline.

The Elderline is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India and is being implemented by HelpAge India in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Government of J&K.

The helpline number 14567 is available for elderly and senior citizens from 8am to 8pm, if they need any legal, medical, emotional or any other kind of help. On the occasion, FRL, JK Elderline gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on the functioning of Elderline. 

He also discussed the role of different stakeholders involved.The Deputy Commissioner instructed the SDMs and tehsildars to nominate one person from every village who will be one point contact for promotion of elderline. 

He also instructed them to identify a room at tehsil level to be used as temporary shelter for Elderly. The FRL, JK Elderline were asked to forward inputs to the ministry and make the helpline operational for 24X7. He also assured full support to the Elderline for its smooth functioning.
