ADDC stresses for creating mass awareness among people on latest banking services & availability of grievance redressal mechanisms

An awareness programme on RBI's nationwide, ‘Jankar Baniye, Satark Rahiye’ campaign was held today at Mini Secretariat, Shopian with an aim to educate the public to be aware and cautious about their banking activities.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Manzoor Hussain presided over the programme.Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the ADDC said that in view of increasing instances of banking frauds including cyber crimes, mass awareness camps are the need of the hour in order to protect the interests of the people.

He also asked the concerned banks to intensify these camps among the rural areas in order to apprise the maximum people with latest and best of security practices and grievances redressal structure.The participants were apprised through presentations about many issues including Modus operandi of criminals in commission of cyber crimes and other banking frauds. 

They were also informed about many types of fraudulent mails, social media posts, calls and were asked to be cautious against disclosing banking credentials to strangers.Awareness was also provided on Customer Rights, Policy Document of Banks on Transparent banking services and remedies available for Grievance Redressal. 

Speakers highlighted Grievance Redressal Structure of Banks, role of Ombudsman, Cyber Security measures to be taken against the banking frauds.They also briefed about other latest initiatives in banking including MANI aap, for visually impaired persons to recognise currency notes while drawing money at Banks, ATMs, doorstep banking services for senior citizens and differently abled etc.

Joint Director Planning, LDM Shopian, Officers of JK Bank, district officers, representative of RBI, bank managers and other concerned attended the programme.
