Chobbar, a Punjabi film, is currently making headlines after its release in theatres on November 11, 2022. It has been reported that the movie is getting good reviews and appreciable public reviews. The movie Chobbar starred Jayy Randhawa, Drishty Talwar, Seema Kaushal, Honey Mattu, Sukhwinder Chahal, and Gurtej Guri. The movie is directed by Maneesh Bhatt and written by Dheeraj Rattan and Manila Rattan.

The movie is getting a good response after one day of release. However, there is a growing call for the film to be banned. The reason behind the ban on movies is the increasingly violent atmosphere in Punjab. According to the petition, the centre says the movie hasn't applied for a censorship certificate yet. Before the movie is permitted to be exhibited as part of a petition, objections will be taken into account. The High Court dismissed the petition based on this.

Raghwant Singh, the name petitioner, told the High Court alongside advocate Amit Jhanjhi that the visuals of violence in the film are somewhere that will affect the atmosphere of the state. This extreme use of weapons and violence shown in the movies is spoiling the youth of the state. The reference that he has made to Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murders is in the petition. According to reports, the High Court has ordered that the gun culture in Punjab be eradicated through literature.

Because of this, more visuals of violence on the screen are promoting the gun culture in Punjab. Because of this, an FIR has been registered against many singers, although the names of the singers have not been revealed till now. Moreover, the graph of violence in Punjab is increasing day by day, so the ban on such kinds of movies that are promoting severely violent environments in the state should be stopped.

The producers were charged in Mohali under Sections 153 (intent to incite unrest), 153A (promoting enmity), 153B (prejudicial to national integration), 160 (committing affray), 107 (breach of peace), and 505 (public mischief).  But after some time, the makers get the green light to release the movie in theatres.
