Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav : PMRU organises Awareness cum orientation program in Rajouri

Intending to highlight the importance of affordability and availability of safe, quality and efficacious drugs to the end users, the Price Monitoring and Resource Unit today organised an awareness cum orientation program here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow.

The event was organised under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.The primary function of PMRU is to assist the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority in monitoring prices of drugs, ensuring availability of drugs and raising consumer awareness. 

It act as collaborating partners of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority ( NPPA).During the program, the resource persons from PMRU highlighted the mechanism and approach required to expose incidents of overpricing resorted to by unscrupulous elements in Pharma business. 

They also delivered comprehensive lectures covering all activities undertaken by NPPA( National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority) and PMRU.Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the objectives of the PMRU, saying that its main function was to ensure accessibility and availability of medicines to people at affordable prices.

Underlining the need to generate mass awareness about consumer related issues in pharma business, he said that the need of the hour was  to intensify awareness campaigns to educate the consumers.The DC also stressed upon the need to introduce a result oriented approach to address issues related to pricing and availability of medical products.

Emphasizing on the need to work in close coordination for achieving the objectives of the PMRU, the Deputy Commissioner urged the stakeholders to strive hard and work in tandem to achieve the objectives enshrined under PMRU.

Among the others present during the event were State Drug Controller, Lotika Khajuria; Dy Drug Controller Jammu, Mohammad Iqbal Palla; Assistant Drug controller, Surinder Mohan and other officers.
