Vigilance Awareness week : Day-long awareness program organised for stakeholders in Rajouri

As part of Vigilance Awareness week being observed across the country, a day-long awareness program was today organised by the Anti Corruption Bureau here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow.

The purpose of the event was to bring together all stakeholders in spreading the message of integrity in all spheres of life. The vigilance awareness week is being observed with the theme, "Corruption Free India for a developed nation."

The event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, while SSP Rajouri, Mohammad Aslam; SSP ACB, Joginder Singh; Commandant 2nd IRP Randeep Singh were also present on the occasion.

Among the others present during the event were DDC Member Mougla, Shamim Akhter; DDC Member Doongi, Khalid Chowdhary; BDC Kalakote, Babu Khan; BDC Dhangri, Tazeem Akhter; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ASP, Vivek Shekhar; PO ICDS, Shoket Mehmood Malik; ACR, Imran Rashid Kataria; ACD, Vijay Kumar; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; DSHO, Dr Sarfraz Naseem Chowdhary were also present during the event.

During the event, scores of measures being taken by the government to put an end to corruption, including switch over to e- Governance, disbursement of welfare benefits of various schemes of the Government in a transparent manner through the DBT initiative, implementation of E-tendering in public procurement,  simplification of procedure and systems etc were discussed.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that vigilance week is celebrated to increase public awareness about the perils of corruption and also to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of bribery and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by the corruption.

He also said the focus areas of the week were to spread greater awareness to encourage complaints under Public Interest Disclosure and protection of Informers and conduct a unique clearance campaign to clear all outstanding vigilance matters.

He also said that Corruption was a bottleneck in the way of development and the need of the hour was to make collective efforts to end it.Underlining the need for strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the vigilance department, he directed the concerned officers to sensitize the employees and public about the ill effects of corruption through workshops and mass campaigns.

The DC also appreciated the Anti Corruption Bureau for working tirelessly to prevent and investigate corruption-related matters and bringing culprits to Justice and urged them to keep working with the same zeal to put an end to corruption.

Speaking at the event, SSP, Mohammad Aslam underlined the role of ACB in curbing corruption and sought the active cooperation of the public and PRIs in this regard.SSP ACB, Joginder Singh, while speaking during the event, said that the government has taken a number of measures to end corruption from the country.

He also termed awareness and public participation necessary for a more effective fight against corruption and appealed to the people and PRIs to coordinate with the Government to stop corruption.He also said that zero tolerance against corruption on the ground has brought transparency in Governance and it is being ensured that the benefits of good governance reach the last person in the queue without any discrimination.

While addressing the participants, the Commandant 2nd IRP, Randeep Singh apprised the participants about the functioning of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and measures to weed out corruption from society.He said that corruption is like a termite which makes the country hollow. 

"The public has to work together with the government to rid the nation of corruption as soon as possible," he added.
