Akshay Kumar To Make Marathi Debut Soon With Film On Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who has been continuously failing at the box office seems he has not been affected by his film's failures. Akshay Kumar is continuing to sign significant projects without slowing down. The actor is not in a position to take a break. As it has been reported that Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat is the most recent movie he has committed to. 

And it is now official that Akshay would portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the pan-Indian Marathi film. Yes, you read that right. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar it is a pan-India Marathi film and is set for a Diwali 2023 release. Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde were present when the announcement was made.

Talking about his Marathi debut, Akshay said at the event, "It's a dream come true role for me. I think to portrsay Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen is a very huge responsibility. I was taken aback when Raj sir asked me to portray this role. I feel so good to be playing this part and it's going to be a dream come true role for me. Also, I will be working for the first time with director Mahesh Manjrekar, and it is going to be an experience."

Despite Mahesh Manjrekar calling Akshay Kumar "ideal" for the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, other online users believe he will devalue the influential figure. Moreover, the director has been working on the film for around seven years, and it is by far the biggest and grandest Marathi film to be made. The director even says that with its release across India-wide, he wants people to know the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the most powerful Hindu king. 

Meanwhile, it has been produced by Vaseem Qureshi and Qureshi Production. Apart from Khiladi Kumar, the film also stars Jay Dudhane, Utkarsha Shinde, Vishal Nikam, Virat Madke, Hardik Joshi, Satya, Akshay, Nawab Khan, and Praveen Tarde.
