‘Back to Village’ Phase IV : Sanjeev Verma visits Panchayat Maitra-A, Billawat in Ramban

On second day of the ongoing ‘Back to Village’ Phase IV programme, Commissioner Secretary Forests, Ecology, and Environment, Sanjeev Verma, participated in a series of events and meetings during his visit to Maitra A, Billawat panchayat in Ramban as Visiting Officer.

Sanjeev Verma, who is also the Mentor Secretary for Ramban district, laid e-foundation stone for re-modeling of Government Higher Secondary School, Thatharka. The remodeled structure would have 15 classrooms with a Science Laboratory and Library under UT Plan to be executed by the PWD with an expenditure of Rs. 6.35 crore.

Commissioner Secretary also had virtual interaction with the Sarpanch, Thatharka panchayat, Mohammad Saleem Malik. He congratulated him for execution of a mega development project of education sector in his panchayat.

Earlier, Commissioner Secretary along with other dignitaries also visited Billawat panchayat where he laid foundation stone for construction of Water Supply Scheme Billawat under ‘Har Ghar Jal’ of Jal Jeeven Mission to be executed by the Jal Shakti Department with project cost of Rs 6.11 crore which would cover the village Billawat and Tatarsoo in block Ramban.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by the Chairperson, District Development Council, Ramban, Dr Shamshad Shan, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, DDC members, Renuka Katoch, and Shamim Akhter, ADC Harbans Lal Sharma, senior officers, PRI members and others.

Sanjeev Verma also participated in the cultural programme organized by the students at Government Middle School, Billawat.During the 2nd day proceedings at Maitra, Commissioner Secretary reviewed the status of achievement under deliverables of various departments including RDD, Health, Education, Forest, ICDS, PHE, PWD, Revenue, Animal and Sheep Husbandry and other line departments. 

He directed the officers to achieve all parameters of deliverables of their respective departments on mission mode.Commissioner Secretary directed the officers to focus on saturation of all schemes of their respective departments to provide benefits to deserving people in a transparent and hassle free manner.

Sanjeev Verma also conducted Mahila Sabha to assess the issues pertaining to women folk of the area. While listening to the issues raised by the women, he advised them to take advantage of various social and developmental schemes and contribute towards development of their society.

While interacting with the students during Bal Sabha, Commissioner Secretary took feedback from them about facilities available for them in the Panchayat.Sanjeev Verma also handed over a Motorized Tricycles (Scooty) to specially abled person besides distributing revenue and other certificates, sanction letters under self-employment schemes besides Poshan kits and baby kits among the beneficiaries.

Commissioner Secretary also reviewed formation of Village Development Plan for 2023-24 prepared by RDD and all other line departments   in coordination with sarpanch and panchs.Chairperson DDC highlighted various issues of public interest and urged upon all the departments to implement all the directions and guidelines issued in the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner also briefed the Commissioner Secretary about the status of major projects and other development activities going on in the district especially in Panchayat Maitra- A and Billawat. Sanjeev Verma asked the PRIs and Forest department to intensify plantation drive in their panchayats besides implementing the guidelines given under Swachh Bharat Mission.

He also advised the PRIs and RDD department to put special focus on implementation of SBM scheme as per guidelines by taking scientific measures for waste disposal.Meanwhile, Commissioner Secretary inaugurated a Volleyball match at District Police Lines, Ramban, organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department as an event of ‘Back to Village’ programme.

Later, Commissioner Secretary held a meeting with the officers of 52 RCC GREF and appreciated them for launching a new 240 ft CI-40R Bailey Suspension Bridge over River Chenab at Maitra, Ramban in a record time.
