Kathua admin participates online in PM Kisan Samman Sammelan at KVK

District Administration Kathua today made elaborate arrangements for webcasting of PM Kisan Samman Sammelan at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu.
Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey, alongwith officers and officials of agriculture and allied sectors attended the event wherein prime minister inaugurated two day mega event to mark the release of funds worth Rs 16,000 crore to the beneficiaries under PM-KISAN scheme.
In addition, PM Modi also inaugurated 600 Pradan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras, Bharat Urea Bags under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana – One Nation One Fertilizer and Agri Startup Conclave and Exhibition at IARI Pusa, New Delhi.
The webcasting of the programme at KVK Kathua was presided over by MoS, PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh, who interacted with farmers on virtual platform and hailed the message of Prime Minister for promoting agri start-ups.
He highlighted the achievements under ‘Purple Revolution’ and discussed the success achieved by farmers and start-ups under ‘Aroma Mission’. He also emphasised upon the development of clusters for specialised products to harvest greater profits.
Dr Singh further suggested promoting value addition and processing in agriculture through start-ups for percolation of economic benefits to the ultimate farmers.The Deputy Commissioner, while interacting with farmers discussed the initiatives of the government to support the agriculture sector.
He suggested farmers to adopt diversification by adopting innovative products and enterprises. He assured full support of the administration to upscale new agricultural technologies and products among farmers of Kathua district.
Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua, Sanjeev Rai, discussed the policies being run by the department, including the current procurement drive of rice at MSP.Earlier, Senior Scientist & Head KVK Kathua Dr. Vishal Mahajan highlighted the activities of KVK for promotion of entrepreneurship and start-ups.
He also shared the glaring examples set-up by the farmer in the agri-entrepreneurship such as Piggery, Mushroom and Dairy.More than 200 farmers participated in the programme. Besides witnessing the live webcast of the programme, farmers visited the demonstration units including crop cafeteria, mushroom compost production etc. at KVK Kathua.
A Kisan goshti was also organised during the programme wherein farmers raised their queries and interacted with scientists and officers of line departments. Dr. Anamika Jamwal, Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, DAO Extn Raju Mahjan, SDAO Sanjeev Mehta, ASCO Bantu Dhar, AEO Kathua Pramod Verma, AEO Govindsar Mahinder Singh were Resource Persons during the programme.
