Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today reiterated the firm commitment of the SAD-BJP government to profusely perform on its priority agenda of social welfare and socio-economic reformation of the state, more vigorously and effectively in a result oriented manner.The Chief Minister was interacting with the media person on the sidelines of the Sangat Darshan programme in Talwandi Sabo assembly constituency here today. He said that the people friendly policies and programmes of the state government could be realized in true spirit, as now with the induction of NDA Government at the Centre, it could be much easier for Punjab to have Union Government’s fulsome support and cooperation in all respects.

Referring to his recent New Delhi visit during which he had raised up the state issues of utmost importance pertaining to Agriculture persification, Power generation, Industrial and Economic growth of the state besides prestigious programme of river cleaning and many other issues with the Prime Minister Narindra Modi and other Union Ministers, Mr. Badal said that he had high hopes that all the issues would be resolved soon and Punjab would regain its glory as front runner state in the country.The Chief Minister said that for the survival and economic growth of the farming community in the state that was reeling under a huge debt burden today due to anti-farmer policies of the previous Congress led UPA government at Centre, he had demanded a comprehensive Debt Relief Package from the Centre. He said that NDA Government would Heal all the wounds of the Punjab given by UPA government.

Responding to the query of a media person regarding the Government’s stand over the Drug menace in the state, Mr. Badal said that the state government had already initiated a war against Drug smuggling with a firm commitment to make Punjab a drug free state. He also mentioned that he had also took up this issue with Mr. Modi and urged him to seal the international border to check the inflow of drugs in to the state from across border activities.The Chief Minister mentioned that anybody could judge the commitment of the state government easily just by considering the quantum of drugs seized and number of drug peddlers arrested by the state police during recently past. Not only this, the state government had also chalk out a plan to save the addicts by providing them an effective health care treatment along with free medicines through a massive network of drug de-addiction centers established in all most all the Government Hospitals under the guidance of renowned psychiatrists and experts across the state besides three medical colleges at Amritsar, Patiala and Faridkot.A massive mass awareness campaign against drugs and its ill effects on human body had also been launched by the government, besides rehabilitating the addicted youth after proper detoxification treatment, informed Mr. Badal. 

He called upon the people to join hands with the government for this utmost important social cause and bring the addicts at government de-addiction centers, the district level committees comprising a drug de-addiction officer, a social security officer, a medical officer and a police officer at each district headquarter were also being constituted to ensure proper implementation of the plan, even the drug addicts lodged in different jails were also being treated as indoor patients so that they could also lead a normal life.Mr. Badal addressed the people in villages Tangrali, Tiona Pujarian, Sangat Khurad, Ram Tirath Jagga, Bhagwanpura, Shekhupura, Lelewala, Nath and Chethewala. While giving a patient hearing to all their grievances, Mr. Badal directed various senior officers of the concerned department to resolve all the issues in atime bound manner and asked to report back him office regarding action taken for each application or complaint received during the Sangat Darshan.The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema, Former MLA Mr. Jeet Mohinder Singh, Akali leader Mr. Dyal Singh Koliawali, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Basant Garg, DIG Yorinder Singh and SSP Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar of Bathinda District.
