DC Rajouri Vikas Kundal chairs NCORD meeting; reviews measures to curb drug abuse

Asks for collective efforts to rehabilitate active drug users

The District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) today met here under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.While reviewing the measures to curb the menace of drug abuse in the district, the DSWO apprised the meeting that a series of awareness programs and many sports-related and other activities are being held regularly to channelise the potential of the youth towards a positive direction and also to keep them away from drug addiction.

Addressing the meeting, the DDC also asked the stakeholders to work in close coordination and make dedicated efforts to make Rajouri a drug free district and keep the youth on the right track so that they can contribute more and more to the development of the Nation.

"Besides de-addicting the drug users, there is a dire need to address the major reasons which provoke the youth to take drugs", the DDC said.He also urged that collective efforts are being required to eliminate the drug menace from the society which has deeply penetrated into the society.

Underlining the importance of sports activities in keeping the youth away from the drug abuse, he asked the concerned stakeholders to motivate the youth to take part in sports activities and give up drug addiction.

The DDC also asked to make dedicated efforts to bring down the number of active drug users in the district.He also stressed upon all stakeholders to launch a massive awareness campaign across the length and breadth of the district to educate the masses about the I'll effects of drugs on health.
