Snowfall Alert In Himachal: Heavy Snowfall On Baralacha & Shinkula Passes

Gradually, the weather in Himachal is changing. It was not only the first time heavy snow fell in some passes. The passes of the Barlacha and Sinkula are covered with snow. Baralacha and Tanglangala have received two to three inches of snowfall while this sequence is continuing.

However, the vehicles of locals are coming from Leh to Manali. But by watching the situation, the local administration will block the road soon if the speed of snowfall remains the same.

By watching whether the administration of Lahul-Spiti is on alert. The administration has closed the route for tourists by issuing a notification. All tourists are stopped at the Darcha check post. Tourists going towards Zanskar and Shinkula, including Baralacha Pass, have also been stopped in Darcha. The Shinkula Pass has also experienced heavy snowfall since last night.

In view of the weather conditions, the Lahaul Spiti administration has banned the trek on Tuesday itself. Drivers Sanju, Narendra, and Vikram said that it was snowing in all the high-altitude passes of the Manali-Leh road. 

He said that at present, the movement of vehicles is going on. But if the snowfall continues like this, then the problems could increase. On the other hand, snowflakes are also falling in Rohtang Pass. Seeing the snowfall in the passes, tourists from all over the country have started turning to Kullu Manali.

Deputy Commissioner of Lahaul Spiti Sumit Khimta said that due to heavy snowfall in the Lahaul Valley, the Manali-Leh National Highway (NH-003) has been closed due to snow accumulation near Baralacha Top. 

Therefore, all the people travelling through Baralacha Pass have been instructed not to go towards the pass. He said tourists should not take the risk and wait for the weather to clear.
