Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal reviews preparations for paddy procurement season

Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Jitendra Jorwal held a review meeting with the officials to take stock of the arrangements being made for  procurement of paddy by the government, which is scheduled to commence from October 1. 

While presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner instructed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates that before the commencement of procurement process, they should regularly visit the markets in their respective areas and ensure that every basic facility related to the procurement is made available there.

Deputy Commissioner said that about 16 lakh metric tons of paddy was expected to arrive in the grain markets in the current season and entire arrangements should be made out on time. He directed the DFSC to issue proper guidelines to the staff posted in the 166 grain markets of the district that no officer or employee will leave the station during the procurement season and maintain full coordination with all stakeholders to ensure the convenience of the farmers. 

During the meeting, as per the guidelines of the Punjab Government, Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements done for lifting, payment, transportation, labour, availability of gunny bags etc.  

On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Varjit Walia, SDM Sangrur Navreet Kaur Sekhon, SDM Lehra Suba Singh, SDM Dhuri Amit Gupta, SDM Bhawanigarh Vaneet Kumar, SDM Sunam Jaspreet Singh, SDM Dirba Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner Under Training Nitesh Kumar Jain, DFSC Kimmi Vaneet Kaur, Chief Agriculture Officer Satpal Singh, District Mandi Officer Jaspal Singh and other officials were also present.
