Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said that media is a mirror, it should broadcast and publish the reality. He said that the biggest need of today is to keep democracy alive and the media has to fulfill its responsibility under this goal.

This expression was given by the Home Minister in his address as chief guest at a program organized by Media Wellbeing Association Haryana in Ambala city today. On this occasion, he also distributed an accidental death insurance policy of Rs 10 lakh to 46 journalists under the first list on behalf of the association. 

This policy has been done by the Association at its level. On this occasion, the office bearers of the association gave a grand felicitation to the chief guest by presenting him with a bouquet, memento and shawl.

On this occasion, Home and Health Minister Anil Vij congratulated the establishment of the Media Wellbeing Association, wished that the association should move forward continuously. He also wished that the name given by the association, in which the winds of positive thoughts flow. 

He said that when the country became independent, the first thing that was kept was how our system of governance should be. At that time there was monarchy and there was democracy too, after considering everyone, the leaders of that time accepted democracy in the country.

Four pillars of democracy, which includes executive, judiciary, legislature and media – Vij

There are four pillars of democracy, which include executive, judiciary, legislative and media. The system of governance rests on them. If any one of these pillars is weak then democracy becomes weak,  he added.

The democratic structure is deteriorating, which are family parties, there is no value of democracy in them, governments are being run with a dictatorial attitude – Vij

Home Minister Anil Vij said that if we look at today, the structure of this democratic system is weak somewhere. He said that today, especially in our country, there are many parties, democratic, including BJP, some family and some gangs which are made to loot the country. 

Our democratic structure is deteriorating. There is no value of democracy in those which are family parties and governments are being run with more and more authoritarian attitude.

After the change of People's Representation Act, the Chief Minister became more dictator - Vij

Especially since the time of Rajiv Gandhi, when he brought a law to eliminate defection by changing the People's Representation Act, after that the Chief Minister became more dictatorial. Rajiv Gandhi was a pilot, not a politician, he did not realize the reaction on the subject of politics.   

He said that if the country comes in the hands of a dictator, you have seen what will happen. But if his legislature party does wrong, then the public punishes him, if his chief does wrong, then the public punishes him. 

But today the public cannot punish and you will have to endure and suffer. If the anti-defection law had to be implemented, it should have been done that the party on which it stands cannot change its defection.

A huge role of media to strengthen and save democracy – Vij

Sh. Vij said that earlier the Chief Minister used to listen to the MLAs, but today your whip is issued, if you have a different opinion on any subject, then you cannot express it, the whip will be issued, you will have to speak and raise your hand, In such circumstances it is called democracy. 

You (media) are the watchdogs of democracy and you have a stick in your hand. You (media) have a big role to play in this system to strengthen and save this democracy. He said that parties can mingle with other party, But the media is a mirror and it shows what it sees. 

He also said that what the ruling party is saying, what the opposition is saying, you have to reach every news related to the society to the people and show only what is real in the newspaper.  

The party and the opposition can say anything for their own interest, but it is the responsibility of the media to publish the news properly - Vij

The Home Minister also said that I have also seen the situation of emergency, even in the circumstances of that time, the journalists have fulfilled their responsibility very well. The Indian Express building was demolished and the lights of the Punjab Kesari office were cut off. 

At such a time, the editor of Punjab Kesari Group had done the work of publishing news through tractor lights. You (media) are the watchdog, pros and cons can say anything for your own interest but it is your responsibility to publish the news properly.

The organization that has been created by the Media Wellbeing Association has to be made its goal – Vij

The organization which has been formed by the Media Wellbeing Association, has to make it its goal to work to keep democracy alive, which is the biggest need of today.  According to the demands placed in the memorandum, the Home Minister said that all the demands would be considered and he would try to get them approved by the government. 

He said that this demand has already been kept in the agenda for the medical facilities to the journalists like government employees. Another demand in which the Association should provide documents to him to complete the plot file pending with the government for the Press Club.

Announcement to give 20 lakh rupees for the expansion of the association

The Home Minister also announced Rs 20 lakh for the expansion of the association.  

Policy of 46 journalists was given under the first list - Dharani

On this occasion, State President of Media Wellbeing Association, Chandrashekhar Dharani, while welcoming the Chief Guest as well as other distinguished guests and senior journalists, gave detailed information about the work being done by the Association. 

He said that under the first list, a policy has been made for 46 journalists and not a single rupee will be taken from the journalists for this work. Efforts will be made by the association for the health insurance of the journalists and their families as well. He also handed over a demand letter related to the interests of journalists to the Home Minister.

On this occasion, Editor of Dainik Tribune Sh. Naresh Kaushal, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Uttam Hindu Sh. Irwin Khanna, Advisor from Prasar Bharati New Delhi Sh. Gyanendra Bhartia welcomed the Home Minister and shared their views on the matters related to journalism.

On this occasion, State President of the Association Chandrashekhar Dharni, Program Coordinator Dr. Anil Dutta, Ankur Kapoor, Tarun Kapoor, Surendra Mehta, Dr. Sunil Sadiq, Surendra Tiwari, Bhupinder Oberoi, Ashish Gulati, Deepak Bhasin, Ram Babu Yadav along with senior journalists. and dignitaries were present.
