Kargil 19-Sep-2022

The earthquake hit the land of Kargil, Leh and Ladakh in the morning around 9:30 am on Monday morning. It was informed by the NCS through their official social media handle Twitter, where they said “An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck 64 km WNW of Kargil, Ladakh at around 9.30 am”.

As we all know, Kargil is the place that is always remembered as the ‘Land Of The Brave Sons Of The Country’. Once again, this land has become a matter of discussion on the national level because on Monday morning, around 9:30 a high-speed earthquake was observed. As per reports, it is also revealed that there is no harm to the lives of people who are permanent residents of the incident’s place.

NCS (National Centre For Seismology) has revealed that the speed of the earthquake has been measured at around 4.3 on the Richter Scale.

NCS is basically the agency that is formed by the government to keep check or monitor the activity of the earthquake in the country. Also, the centre of the earthquake is measured 10 km deep from the land of the Kargil, Leh-Ladakh.

One day after this incident, a very strong shock from an earthquake was observed in southeast Taiwan, whose speed was measured at around 6.6 on the Richter scale.

This information was leaked by the NCS of India through the Twitter account. Also, in Taiwan, the earthquake has not harmed any one's life or property. But such kinds of natural disasters can never be safe.

Why do earthquakes come?

There are seven rotating plates inside the earth. They keep rotating continuously. During this, the place where these plates collide is called the zone fault line. Due to continuous collision, when the corners of the plates bend, they start breaking, in such a way that the energy emanates from there. Due to repeated collisions, the plates bend.

When pressure builds up, the plates break. In such a situation, the energy finds a way to come out. Because of which, an earthquake occurs. These plates are called tectonic plates.
