DC Budgam chairs Mega Block Diwas at Chill Brass in Block Sukhnag
Takes stock of basic facilities in various remote villages; calls for holistic development of the area

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired a mega Block Diwas at remote Panchayat Halqa Chill Brass in Block Sukhnag.Among others, SDM Khansahab, Syed Ahmad Kataria; CMO Budgam, CEO, Engineers from various engineering wings, CHO, CAHO, DSHO, Tehsildar and other district officers and officials attended the programme.
On the occasion, PRIs and respected locals from villages Chill, Brass, Khehpore, Lassipora, Sitharan, Batapora and other adjacent villages apprised the DC about their needs.After giving patient hearing to the public, the DC called for holistic development of the area.
On the demands of road connectivity, the general public was informed that a number of road projects worth Rs 14 crores have been approved for the development of Chill- Sitharan- Batapora and other links in the area.The DC stressed that work on the same be started soon to provide better road connectivity to the local population.
Similarly, it was informed that above Rs 1 crore projects consisting construction of filtration plan and a couple of WSS have also been approved to provide adequate potable water supply to villagers.On the occasion, DC urged PRIs to keep watch on the works and ensure full coordination to the officers for timely execution and completion of the same.
He also assured that demands including a bridge over Sukhnag Nallah between Chill- Qumur villages and development of Chill Brass as tourism villages shall be taken up with the relevant quarters for early redressal.The public were briefed about the new one time Amnesty scheme of PDD department about the one-time relaxation in power fee and urged consumers to avail benefits under it.
Meanwhile, DC also visited Govt High School Zugoo and interacted with students and staff. He emphasized on providing quality education and effective adoption of a pair system and rotational seating arrangements for the improvement of weaker students.
DC also inspected other villages and inspected development of road connectivity between Sitharan – Zugoo- Ringzabal and other links in the area.The DC stressed on coordination between departments and availability of field functionaries on the ground for the general public.
Asserting on cleanliness and sanitation, the DC urged the PRIs and locals to ensure complete ban on single use plastic items and proper garbage disposal. Besides, construction of compost and soakage pits for solid waste and liquid waste management.
On the occasion, various district officers deliberated on schemes and public welfare initiatives and called for massive public participation in these schemes. He also instructed on holding joint awareness camps on department wise schemes by various departments in these villages.
