DDC Doda reviews performance of Rural Development Department

Sets deadline for completion of PMAY-G Houses, Aadhaar Seeding

District Development Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan today chaired a day-long meeting of officers of Rural Development Department and Rural Engineering Wing here in the mini meeting hall of DC office complex to review the performance of the department under different schemes.

Threadbare discussion was held with regard to the physical and financial status of plans approved under MGNREGA for the year 2022-23, PDs generation, status of payments, completion of PMAY-G houses and IHHL units, besides   status of Aadhaar seeding and physical and financial progress of works entrusted to the department under Area Development Plan, including estimation, tendering, allotment, completion &  expenditure incurred.

The DDC, while reviewing the implementation of MGNREGA scheme, directed the BDOs to generate maximum person days and ensure timely payments. He further   directed them to zero down the pendency at Dashboard by today itself.With regard to construction of soakage pits, the DDC directed the REW to complete the pending estimation within one week, while BDOs were directed to expedite the construction process   by mobilising  the field functionaries.

Regarding Aadhaar seeding, the DDC directed the BDOs to complete the   pending Aadhaar seeding in one week to achieve the next level parameter of Aadhaar based payments to bring more transparency and accountability in the working of the system. The speedy construction of targeted Amrit Sarovars and identification of additional   Amrit Sarovar in each block for water harvesting, ground water recharge was also stressed upon.

Further, the DDC directed the BDOs to complete pending PMAY-G houses across the district by the end of this month on priority basis. He further asked to motivate the beneficiaries reluctant to start the construction even after taking the first installment and warn them of strict action under rules.

Assessing the progress of IHHL units, the DDC said that this is one of the top priorities of the UT Government and directed the BDOs to complete the pending construction by 30th of this month.Regarding District capex, the DDC set   November 15 deadline for achieving 75% expenditure .

Moreover the DDC also directed the AC Panchayat to explore the innovative ideas and modern techniques for creating the infrastructure for Solid waste and liquid waste management in the rural areas under the approved budget allocation. The ACD and BDOs were asked to rope in PRIs in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign and Swachh Bharat Mission program by conducting special gram sabhas across the district.

The REW was asked to complete the pending tendering of works and to pace up the allotment process to complete the same during the current working season. The ACD was directed to take disciplinary action against the non performing contractors under rules.The meeting was attended by CPO Doda, ACD Doda, AC Panchayat, Ex En REW; All BDOs besides other concerned officials were also present in the meeting.
