Who Is Karnataka Lingayat Leader Shivamurthy Murugha, A Saint Involved In Minor Assault Case

A Saint from Karnataka has been arrested on Thursday for sexual abuse of minor girls. His name is Sri Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, was arrested on thursday late night and has shifted to the district hospital when he complained that he is feeling chest pain. He was sent to judicial custody for remand when he complained about his pain.

Presently, he is the Chief pontiff of the Jagadguru Murugarajendra Vidyapeetha Mutt, which is located in Karnataka. He was born in 1958 in a village - Godabanahai which is near to Chitradurga. He completed his education here only and has done his graduation from the University of Mysore. His positive, simple, sober, or sincere attitude fetched the attention of Sri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Swami and then Swami declared him the next successor.

Now he is facing the consequences of sexual abuse against two minor girls which has led him to face the charges of assaulting both of them who were living in a religious place or institution’s girls’ hostel.

These girls have a one year age gap, one was 15 years old and the second was 16 years old, it is unveiled by these girls that they were abused from January 2019 to June 2022, and they told this information to the members of the Child welfare Committee (CWC). They even added that they came in this religious mutt as students which are in the district of Chitradurga, Karnataka. They said, he drugged them before any sexual assault, but still, they remembered what was happening with them, also they have some of their videos, only submit if the judicial ask them for them under probe.

Sharanaru runs one of the major or famous mutts in the state.The present CM of Karnataka is from the Lingayat community. During the visit in Karnataka, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also met with him.
