Worst Place For Women In India: A Report Issued By NCRB

An official report by NCRB has unveiled the bitter truth that in India, Delhi is the most unsafe place

Delhi, the capital of the country, is known as an unsafe place for women. It has been officially announced by the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau). In their report, they said in Delhi, 15% of crime against women will be seen in 2021, compared to one year ago when there was no decline recorded in this hike.

Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission of Women, has said that if they want to protect the name of Delhi by addressing it as the most unsafe place for women, then initially they have to protect the women of the state or capital.

This increasing number of crimes against women like assault, harassment, murder, kidnapping, rape, and many more serious crimes need to stop. Not only in Delhi but in 2020, this hike has been seen in U.P Hathras's case. In this case, a crime happened to Dalit girl, in which upper caste guy have forcefully harassed that girl and raped her, then burnt her alive.

Recently, in Jharkhand, a boy named ‘ Shahrukh Hussain’ proposed to a girl, who was 16 years old and studied in 10 standards. She rejected the boy, and while she was sleeping he threw the petrol from the window of her room over her and burnt her alive. A group of Hindu people came together and ran a candlelight march. They have also appealed to CWC( Child Welfare Committee) and POSCO to take strict action against the criminal.

All these incidents have shown how unsafe the environment is for women in the country.  The DCW chairperson might take any action in favour of women’s safety in the state.

But in the midst of this issue, no strict laws or actions can be seen by the judiciary. In some cases, the administration didn’t help the victims or even enforce them to take back their FIR( First Information Report).
