GCW Udhampur organises online Poster making competition on “Har Ghar Tiranga”

As part of the  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Club and Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of Government College for Women Udhampur, in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India and J&K AIDS Control Society, organized an online poster making competition on the theme, “Har Ghar Tiranga” to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.

The Programme was organised under the supervision of Dr. Kewal Kumar, convenor SAP club and Red Ribbon Club.  Dr. Monika Sharma, Principal of the college was the chief guest on this occasion.In all, 18 students participated in the poster making competition and made beautiful and message oriented posters on the given theme.

Dr. Kewal Kumar, Assistant Professor of Botany, Prof. Sumita Rao, Assistant Professor of Zoology and Prof. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor of Physics were the jury members.On the basis of judgment of jury members,  Saher Shakeel of Sem-IV, Anisha Bhat of Sem-II, were adjudged 1st  and  2nd  respectively, while Neena Devi of Sem -VI  and  Khushi Sharma of Sem-IV  shared the 3rd position.

Throwing light on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Dr. Monika Sharma appreciated the initiative taken by the SAP Club and Red Ribbon Club and said that it is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

She further added that Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.The idea behind the initiative was to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag. 

She maintained that such awareness programmes in educational institutions will go a long way in sensitizing the masses about the importance of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.Prof. Yash Paul, HOD History, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhaya, HOD Sanskrit, Prof. Tania Mahajan, Assistant Professor of Zoology and Prof. Yash Kumar, Assistant Professor of Music were among the others who graced the event with their online presence.
