Punjab Government to organise state level environment awareness event at Dhuri

Foundation stone of medical college will also be laid at Mastuana by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann

In order to make people aware of the pollution caused by single-use plastics and to make the environment of Punjab green once again, the Punjab government is going to organise a state level event on August 5 at Prince Ville Palace at Dhuri under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.  On this occasion, the CM will also lay the foundation stone of Sangrur Medical College at Mastuana Sahib. 

Apart from this, a school on wheels, 'Gyan Kiranan Di Chhoh', will also be flagged off in Dhuri Constituency.While reviewing the preparations for the event, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal said that the Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on single-use plastic and people will be made aware about not using it by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that on this occasion, jute bags will also be distributed as an alternative to plastic.

The Deputy Commissioner added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the 72nd state-level ‘Van Mahautsav’ will also be celebrated and CM will formally start the event by planting saplings to save the environment. Along with this, an exhibition related to 72 types of plants & seeds and 72 types of birds will be organized by the Forest Department under the Herbal Project and 10 thousand plants will be distributed to each assembly constituency.

On this occasion, besides others, A.D.C.  (Development) Varjit Walia, ADC (G) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, ADC (Urban Development) Latif Ahmed, SDM Dhuri Amit Gupta, DFO Monica Yadav, SP Jasvir Singh, XEN  PPCB  Rajiv and Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh were present.
