‘Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya’: Kathua admin organises mega event at Basohli

As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Ministry of Power in association with District Administration on Wednesday organized a function here at Multi Purpose Hall of Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya -t Basohli.The event was organized as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and the Centre Governments and to highlight the key achievements in the power sector.

Chairman DDC Kathua, Mahan Singh alongwith Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandey, formally inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp.Superintendent Engineer, JPDCL STD Karam Chand; General Manager NHPC, Sourav Kumar and other functionaries of JPDCL and public representatives were also present.

uring the event, the speakers highlighted the benefits of electricity and the unprecedented growth achieved by India in the power sector over the past few years.A variety cultural programme, Nukkad nataks and screening of short films on power sector were other attractions of the event. The event also witnessed several beneficiaries sharing their experiences.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahan Singh said that the power scenario in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir has considerably improved in the last few years. He highlighted the importance of conservation and judicious use of electricity. “The UT administration alongwith central government is making concerted efforts to augment the existing power infrastructure” he added. 

The DC Kathua, in his address, said that Government of India has issued Rs 2500 cr for Jammu division under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to establish a robust from reliable and resilient power sector.

The SE JPDCL Circle gave detailed information about the programs being run by the department to improve services delivery mechanism. 

Earlier, the DDC Chairperson alongwith DC Kathua   kick started a plantation drive being conducted by Forest Division Basohli under ongoing Green J&K Drive.Later, the DDC Chairperson inaugurated Women Self Help Group cum Farmer Facilitation Centre at Basohli.
