Moreover, the incident was registered after the murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was acquitted in the air bombing case in 1985. According to media reports, the two most recent targets were shot while in a car in broad daylight in a public area. The act was similar to Ripudaman Malik, and likewise in that occurrence, a car was also discovered nearby burning.

Speaking of the victims, Maninder Dhaliwal, who lived in Whistler, died on the spot, while Satinder Gill was working as a concrete truck operator and was in Whistler to celebrate his birthday.

Who was Maninder Dhaliwal?

Maninder Dhaliwal, a "Brothers Keepers'' gang member, is 29 years old. On Sunday, he was killed close to the Sundial Hotel in Whistler Village. The legendary Brother's Keepers crew member gained notoriety for engaging in gang warfare and playing a key role in a number of inter-gang gun fights that took place in Vancouver in recent years.

Dhaliwal and his brother Barinder were included in a list of six males that the Vancouver Police Department released last year. Four of them were of Indian heritage and were described as "gangsters" who "represent a substantial risk to the safety of the public." In April 2021, outside the Coal Harbour restaurant, rival gangsters killed Barinder Dhaliwal, the brother of Maninder. Dhaliwal pursued the shooter for a while before stabbing him in the eye. Francois Gauthier, the alleged gunman, was later given a 20-year prison term with no chance of parole.

Who was Satinder Gill or Sat Gill?

Reportedly, Satinder Gill was the second person killed at Whistler, along with gangster Maninder Dhaliwal. Gill was Dhaliwal’s friend and was not involved in the gang.

Meanwhile, gangsters based in Canada have been often linked to ordering killings in India. Earlier, it was Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster and a close associate of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, who killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala
