Deepak Singh, a 23-year-old Punjab police officer, was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning after being shot at the Hotel Diamond Plaza in Chandigarh's Sector 22. According to the authorities, Singh fired the bullet that hit him from his own AK-47 weapon, and they are now looking into whether there was any foul play involved.
Two Punjab Police personnel had reached the hotel late at around 1 am. In the morning a worker went to the bathroom. That's where the incident happened. It is being said that the bullet was fired by mistake, but the police are engaged in the investigation. The injured policeman who has been identified as Deepak is referred to PGI. Another Punjab Police personnel was sleeping in the room carrying a carbine. The SSP also reached the spot after getting information about the incident.

At the same time, Sector-17 police station, including Area DSP Gurmukh Singh and Sector-22 outpost in charge, reached the spot along with the team. The forensic team of Chandigarh Police has also collected evidence from the spot. At the same time, the Central Forensic team also reached out from Sector 36. According to preliminary information, the bullet was fired by the policeman himself. Both the jawans are being described as the gunmen of some person.
About The Incident
Hotel worker Ram Das said that at around 5.30 am, the sound of glass falling came. He felt as if someone had hit a stone. He called the security guard. It was later discovered that the bullet had been fired. The door of the room whose glass was broken was knocked, but the guest did not open it. Then came the sound of shouting from inside.
The door was pushed open. A Punjab policeman was lying inside in a bloody condition. A Punjab policeman by the name of Ankit Khokhar had booked a room in the hotel. Another policeman was with him. He had come from Gurdaspur in Punjab. According to the hotel worker, he had a gun and appeared to be a gunman. One guest was in a police uniform and the other was in half a uniform. More than 40 guests were present at the hotel.
