Another shocking piece of news has been grabbing the limelight. It has been reported that the nation's anti-drugs bureau has accused actress Rhea Chakraborty of purchasing drugs for her late actor partner Sushant Singh Rajput, who passed away in 2020. She and 34 other people were charged in the well-publicised case by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), according to the charge sheet.

The 30-year-old actress is accused of funding the purchase of a minor amount of marijuana. Showik Chakraborty, her brother, is also listed as a defendant. According to the NCB, she gave Sushant Singh marijuana after receiving it. They said that she paid for it at his request as well. Reportedly, Rhea Chakraborty could spend more than ten years in prison if found guilty.

The accusations against her have been dubbed a "witch-hunt" by the actress. She acknowledged that Sushant Singh Rajput smoked marijuana in an interview with renowned news portal, but she denied using narcotics or aiding in their acquisition.

“I tried to control him... I have never spoken to a (drug) dealer or taken drugs in my life. I am open to a blood test,” she added.

The agency further states, “Rhea Chakroborty received many deliveries of ganja from Samuel Miranda, Showik Charoborty and Dipesh Sawant and others and handed over those deliveries to actor late Sushant Singh Rajput and made payments for those deliveries at the instance Showik and Late Sushant Singh Rajput during the period March 2020 to September 2020.”

On June 14, 2020, Rajput was found dead at his Bandra apartment and the Mumbai police spokesperson and deputy commissioner of police Pranay Ashok said, “He died by suicide. Mumbai Police is investigating. The police have not found any (suicide) note yet.”
