After Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt has another treat for her fans. Now, Alia Bhat and Shefali Shah are set to entertain the audience with the upcoming thriller film ‘Darlings’. The teaser for their eagerly anticipated project contains all the ingredients for a sensual journey through desires and dreams, as well as the lengths to which these two women will go to advance their interests.Darlings, a quirky dark comedy based in Mumbai, will follow the lives of a mother-daughter connection. In the movie, Shefali Shah will be seen as Alia Bhatt's mother, and Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew will play important roles. The teaser depicts a love story between the characters played by Vijay Varma and Alia Bhatt. Furthermore, the first poster and teaser were unveiled, which give a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming mystery drama.
Speaking of the teaser, a voiceover tells the tale of a frog relaxing by a river who happens to become friends with a scorpion. The teaser opens with Alia Bhatt enjoying a movie in a theatre. According to the story, Alia Bhatt and Vijay Varma represent the metaphorical frog and scorpion, but their specific roles are not stated. Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt are seen grinning broadly in another moment, while Vijay Varma appears bewildered. “The killing was just in our imagination”, Alia Bhatt explains in a few scenes as she and Shefali Shah sit at a police station. The film's great ensemble and humorous overtones in a grim, grim setting are its two best features.
Speaking of the film, it has been produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma. Darlings mark the full-length feature debut of director Jasmeet K Reen. It has music by Vishal Bharadwaj, with Gulzar as its lyricist. The film will be released on 5 August on Netflix.
