Adopt pro-active approach to control spread of dengue : DC urges to people

Directs officials to start issuing challans to those not paying requisite heed

In order to control mosquito breeding and keep the spread of dengue at bay in the district, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori directed the Municipal Corporation, officials of Health Department and Executive Officers of Municipal Councils to initiate concerted efforts to contain outbreak of dengue in coming days.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked them to start issuing challans to those who failed to check breeding of dengue-causing mosquito larvae in their premises.Chairing a meeting with the various departments, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration would make all out efforts to control spread of dengue in the urban and rural areas. 

He said that in first instance, people must be educated about possible breeding grounds of mosquitoes including water and flower pots, jars, tins, bottles, refrigerator, coolers, tyres, water containers and bird feeders and later if they did not pay due attention, they must be challaned.

Thori said that joint teams comprising of MCJ, Health Depatment and others local civic bodies must be constitutued also to hold door-to-door survey and check the places where larva was breeding in this regard.The Deputy Commissioner further told them to undertake inspection of the government offices to ensure that these places must not become breeding ground of mosquitoes. 

He also solicited wholeheartedly support of citizen to take suitable steps to prevent mosquito breeding in their homes. He said that the district administration was firmly committed for tackling this menace to ensure good health of the residents. Thori said that the spread of dengue cases could be contained through proper awareness and enforcement.
