Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel meets Venkaiah Naidu

Venkaiah Naidu assures early solution to the issues raised by Anandiben Patel

The Chief Minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel called on M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) and Parliamentary Affairs in New Delhi today. Senior officials of the Ministry as well as the Govt. of Gujarat were also present at the meeting including Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development and Secretary, HUPA. Smt. Anandiben Patel apprised Mr. Venkaiah Naidu of the issues of incomplete projects under JnNURM as well as pending approval of the Ahmedabad Metro among others. 

Venkaiah Naidu assured the Chief Minister that the issue of incomplete projects under JnNURM will be studied in detail and a solution will be found since the scheme got over on March 31st, 2014. He also assured that the proposal of Ahmedabad Metro would be sent for approval to the Cabinet as soon as the Gujarat Govt. completes the necessary formalities on its part. 

The Union Urban Development Minister also praised the Gujarat Govt. model of providing affordable houses to the poor. Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said that Gujarat is a pioneering state which is giving affordable housing to the poor in partnership with the Private Sector, Urban Local Bodies, and the Project Developers. He further suggested that the State Govt. should also involve PSUs, LICs etc. in the development of such houses. Ministry of HUPA will soon send a team of officers to Gujarat to study the model of providing affordable houses to the poor, he added.
