Two Killed In Blast At Kabul Gurdwara, IS Link Suspected

A piece of terrific news has been making a lot of headlines. Terrorists assaulted the Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul, Afghanistan. Multiple explosions have been recorded on the premises of the Gurdwara Sahib. The incident is thought to have been carried out by ISIS Khorasan. The situation is being monitored by the Ministry of External Affairs. According to reports, the Gurdwara's whole premises were set on fire.

Reports suggest that the attack began at 7:15am Kabul time (8.30 am India time). A 60-year-old man, identified as Sawinder Singh and the guard of the Gurdwara was killed while three Taliban soldiers were wounded in the incident. Two attackers were cornered by Taliban soldiers. At least 8 people are still believed to be trapped inside, but the numbers have not been confirmed.

Further, adding more about the news, BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa said he had spoken to Gurnam Singh, who informed him that the incident occurred at 6 am local time when a granthi was going inside the gurdwara for the morning 'parkash' of the Guru Granth Sahib. 'Parkash' is the first prayer in any gurdwara.

Speaking about the attack, Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Vikram Sahney told the news portal, “The gunmen who attacked the Kabul Gurdwara are probably from the Daesh group, rivals of the Taliban. The Taliban fighters have reached the spot and a fight is ongoing between them. The gurdwara is damaged and 4 Sikhs are missing.”

According to sources, 25-30 Afghan Hindus and Sikhs were present in the Gurdwara for morning prayers, and just 10-15 were able to run as the attackers entered the premises. The remainder is either trapped inside or presumed dead.

After the incident came to light, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann strongly condemned the attack and urged the Centre to extend immediate assistance to ensure the safety of minorities in the Afghan capital.
