BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy Tuesday said Narendra Modi was the party's future and the National Democratic Alliance government will fulfill the promises made to the people. He also took jibes at the opposition Congress over its performance in the general elections.Rudy, who initiated the discussion in the Lok Sabha on the motion of thanks to the president's address to a joint session of both houses of parliament, credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party getting absolute majority in the Lok Sabha for the first time. Rudy, who began by referring to the distance covered and the number of rallies addressed by Modi during campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, faced frequent interruptions from opposition members, particularly those from the Trinamool Congress.Rudy said the best way to predict the future was to invent it.

"BJP workers have invented Narendra Modi and that is our future," Rudy said.He said Gujarat has given the country Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel. "This time it has given a development man," Rudy said. He said the Congress, which has ruled the country for 55 years, had just 44 members in the Lok Sabha though it contested more seats that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)."The BJP fielded 428 candidates and got 282 seats," Rudy said.He said while the BJP has increased its vote share in states like West Bengal, apart from states where it was already doing well, some parties have all but been wiped off.

"I always used to wonder what is happening in Uttar Pradesh. Parties were fighting each other in the state and in Delhi they were supporting the UPA government together. The people of the country were observing this and these parties were taught a lesson."

"While one party has been wiped out, one party could only get family members elected," he said, referring to the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party. He said the government will accept suggestions from all members. "But if suggestions are of the nature in which the country has been run in the last 65 years, we will not accept it," he said.Rudy said China was making rapid strides in sectors such as electricity and in India cities continued to be plagued by power crisis.Slamming the previous Congress-led government, he said while China had taken people out of agriculture to reduce poverty, 12 crore people were ready to go from industrial sector to the farm sector during the rule of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

Rudy said there was a need to focus on creation of jobs. "You are all elected representatives, you will realize that people just want jobs. How would we do it? Industrialists have invested in United States, but they have left our country."The presidential address Monday reflected many of Modi's articulated concerns - reaping India's demographic pidend by upgrading skills, water conservation and micro-irrigation, boosting manufacturing, improving urban amenities, boosting tourism, sustainable development, making agriculture remunerative, cleanliness and cleaning the river Ganga.
