NC is a united force. Our identity subservient to Party: Ali Mohammad Sagar

Thanking NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, NC Working President Omar Abdullah and Sheikh Nazir Ahmed for reposing faith in him by giving him this prestigious responsibility, NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said that Sheikh Nazir Ahmed's stature and dedication were both unmatched and that Sheikh Nazir is a leading light of the party that has enlightened the minds of many present leaders including himself.“I was not ready to take over this position because of the fact that Sheikh Nazir Ahmed is unmatched in stature and strength and I have always been a keen pupil who has always learnt from his knowledge and political wisdom. Now the party has asked me to serve in this position at a time when we need to consolidate our rank and file and ensure a strong and resolute comeback in the Assembly Elections. I assure Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah that I will leave no stone unturned to serve the party and rise up to their expectations,” Ali Mohammad Sagar said, according to a statement issued  

Stating that National Conference was a party that had braved great betrayals, political conspiracies and hardships in its glorious history, Ali Mohammad Sagar said that the need of the hour was to exhibit exemplary unity and oneness of purpose by striving not for personal agendas and interests but the interests of the party. “There should be no personal agendas and self-seeking motives in National Conference because this party is based on a bed-rock of unimaginable sacrifices. We should all endeavor to strengthen the hands of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah so that the party retains its historic supremacy in leading the people of this State and safeguarding their sentiments and aspirations,” Ali Mohammad Sagar said.

Sagar said that he promises that he will give respect, dignity and voice to every single Halqa President, Block President and District President and every single functionary of the party at the grassroots level. “I am here to serve you and include you in evolving solutions to problems and in serving National Conference with our blood and sweat. I promise that all of you will be acknowledged and heard with respect, dignity and seriousness in matters concerning the party,” Sagar said.

Sagar said the flag on National Conference was more important than any inpiduals and personal political goals. “It was Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who sacrificed his entire life for the welfare of our nation and this party, its stages and podiums all exist because of Sheikh Sahib's leadership and struggles. We must bear this in mind at all times and remember that slogans of the party and its towering leadership should come before any personal slogans and goals,” Sagar said. Stating that there were active and serious conspiracies being hatched against National Conference and the Identity and Status of Jammu & Kashmir, Sagar said that National Conference has always safeguarded the interests of the people of J&K and would continue to do that without any compromises or lapses.
