In a statement in New Delhi today, Mr Venkaiah Naidu has said that the President’s address reflects the mind of the new government led by Shri Narendra Modi. It is a clear charter of problems, priorities and actions proposed, and rightly interprets the verdict of the people of the country in the recent general elections to the Lok Sabha. r Venkaiah Nadu has said that the President has reflected the pro-farmer initiative of the NDA government to ensure water security through Paradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana with motto of ‘har khet ko paani’. The address has also reflected the objective of NDA government which is promotion of true national integration by making the weaker sections and all minorities genuine partners in nation building. Our commitment to ensure that benefits of economic development reach weaker sections and all minorities is one of the highlights of the President’s address.

The address has concisely reflected the problems and challenges inherited by the NDA government and suggested the remedial actions to be taken to place the country’s economy back on track.

The Union Minister says that the President’s address basically highlights the need for new mindsets and new approaches to promote ‘Brand India’. Some pointers in this direction are –development through good governance, minimum government and maximum governance, poverty elimination in place of poverty alleviation, urban India replacing rural-urban pide, youth led development as against youth development, skilled India, Team India with organic cooperation between the centre and states, digital India, empowerment, equity and efficiency through E-governance, predictable, transparent and fair policy environment, promotion of labour intensive manufacturing sector, setting up world class investment and industrial regions, port led development, promotion of rich literature, history and culture through E-Bhasha etc.

With regard to Urban Development and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA), President has clearly highlighted growing urbanisation as an opportunity rather than a challenge. The government will build 100 smart cities equipped with world class amenities and integrated infrastructure. Our commitment to ensure pucca houses to all urban people with water connection and toilets, 24x7 electricity supply and access by the time we complete 75 years of independence is one of the special highlights.
