After 2 years, Samba admin hosting Baba Chamliyal Mela on June 23

DDC Chairman, DC discuss arrangements with Shrine Committee members

After two years of Corona pandemic, District Administration Samba is going to host Baba Chamliyal Mela on June 23 at the shrine of Baba Dalip Singh Manhas located on the Indo-Pakistan international border in Ramgarh sector.

In this regard, Chairman District Development Council Keshav Dutt Sharma, in presence of Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta chaired a meeting here at Baba Chamliyal shrine Ramgarh to discuss the arrangements for the historical event.  

The meeting was attended by Baba Chamliyal Shrine Committee members and district officers.

The meeting noted that the mela was expected to witness a huge rush of devotees as the fair was being held after a gap of two years due to the Corona pandemic. 

The Deputy Commissioner Samba informed that the district administration has started making elaborate arrangements for organising the fair by making provision of all basic amenities like water, electricity, information centre, transportation and others for the convenience of the devotees.

The R&B was asked to start the blacktopping of all major roads connecting the shrines and complete the same well before commencing of the famous mela.

The  PHE Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted water supply with provision for additional water tankers, while PDD was asked to ensure proper lighting arrangements in addition to uninterrupted power supply at the venue during the mela days.

Stressing on maintaining sanitation during Mela at the shrine, the  DC directed for installing an adequate number of dustbins at the venues keeping in view the huge rush of devotees visiting the shrine this year. 

She also passed instructions to the Legal Metrology and CA&PD departments to keep a check on the quality, hygiene and rates of the eatables being sold by the vendors here.

 The Health Department was directed to deploy two ambulances besides make sufficient provision for medicare facilities and medical staff at both the venues. 

The DC asked different departments to establish stalls of their respective departments to inform the visiting devotees regarding the schemes and welfare programmes. 

Tourism department was asked to ensure proper publicity of the event by installing banners and hoardings at prominent places. 

It was informed that the Control Room has been set up at the shrine, which will be kept functional round the clock for the convenience of the devotees while the Mela Officer will ensure coordination among the line departments to extend all necessary facilities to the devotees.
