Block Diwas: DC Srinagar listens public grievances/ developmental issues at Zewan

Inspects Developmental works; sets August 15 deadline for completion of Tribal Research Institute Khimber

Continuing its endeavour to bring Administration to the door steps of the people particularly living in remote areas of the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today presided over a weekly Block Diwas programme at Zewan in Panthachowk Tehsil of the District for on spot resolution of public issues and listen developmental demands of the local people. Local public representatives including Engineer Ajaz, other PRI members and a large number of people of, Balhama, Zewan, Panthchowk, Athwajan, Zawoora and other adjoining areas were part of the Public Grievance Redressal Camp.

While Programme Officer, ICDS, Deputy Director Employment, Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Lead Bank Manager and other District Officers were also present on the occasion. During the Grievance Redressal Camp, local DDC member, PRI representatives, scores of public delegations, individuals projected various issues and demands before the DC including augmentation of Water supply scheme, Irrigation related issues, sanitation/cleanliness in area, providing of electric poles, improving HT/LT network, resumption of work on Power Receiving Station, jurisdictional issues and other development related matters.

The DC after giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp. He also assured them that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority.The DC also gave on the spot direction to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues. Addressing the gathering, the DC said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal Camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and unground assessment for their time bound redressal.

On the occasion, the DC handed over a sanction order to a PMEGP beneficiary for establishing a Spinning Unit in the area. He also gave away authorization letters of Tractor to the beneficiary farmer who will be given a subsidy of Rs 2 lakh for the Tractor under the District Capex.During the camp, Deputy Director Employment, Srinagar, Rouf-ul-Rehman gave awareness about the different youth oriented schemes including MUMKIN, TEJASWINI, SEI (Spurring Entrepreneurship Initiative) and other job oriented schemes for providing employment opportunities to the local youth through different Self-employment schemes.  Earlier, DDC members and the people of the area expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for bringing the District Administration to their doorsteps by holding Block Diwas at Zewan.On the occasion, the DC inspected various developmental works in the area.Later, the DC visited Khimbar area in North Tehsil of the District and inspected various developmental works being executed including construction of Tribal Research Institute and Sheep Breeding Farm Khimber. While inspecting the pace and progress of work on construction of Tribal Research Institute being carried out at an estimated cost of 7.94 crore, the DC directed the executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work by employing more men and machinery to ensure its operationalization within set timelines.

The DC set a deadline of August 15, 2022 for completion of the Tribal Research Institute so that its purpose is served for the larger interest of the public.The DC also visited Sheep Breeding and Research Farm, Khimber constructed at a cost of Rs 38 crore for upgradation of Sheep sector so that unemployed youth and sheep rearing farmers will get full support from the Government with the aim to enhance the production of sheep farming besides giving them chance to earn their livelihoods.
