The Ministry of Culture organised Telangana Formation Daycelebrations at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi today.Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah attended as theChief Guest ofthe program. Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DoNERShri G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for External Affairs and CultureSmt. MeenakashiLekhi, Minister of State for Culture Shri Arjun Ram Meghwalal so participated in the event.On the occasion, Shri Amit Shah congratulated Shri G.K Reddy for including Telangana day celebrations into Azadika Amrit Mahotsav and bringing to forefront its culture to the entire nation.

He also added that every state has a culture , a language, a cuisine and despite all these differences there is a soul of India and that soul keeps the India united. The Home Minister disclosed  that the Government has spent Rs 2,52,202 crore between 2014-15 and 2021-22 for development of Telengana state. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi firmly believes that development of the states will lead to development of the nation, Shri Amit Shah said. Union Minister Shri G.K Reddy said that the Government of India is providing all necessary support to Telangana State and the procurement of paddy from the farmers of Telangana is testimony to this.He also added that In 2014-2015, MSP value provided to farmers of Telangana was Rs. 3,400 crores. Today after 8 years, MSP value transferred to paddy farmers of Telangana is more than Rs. 26,600 crores which is nearly about 8 fold increase.The Union Minister further said that Government of India is constructing highways worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh crores in the State of Telangana.

This event marked the first time that the Government of India iscelebrating ‘Telangana Day’ or ‘Telangana Formation Day’ to ensure that it is commemorated in a befitting manner.The program aimed to highlight the roots of the land of culture, heritage, architectural magnificence and unsung heroes of India’s youngest state, that is celebrating its eight anniversary this year.As a part of the program, popular singers from Telangana  gave performances. Folk dancers from Telangana and performances by Kathak Kendra Delhi, also showcased the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The state of Telangana was officially formed on 2nd June 2014 and the day is celebrated as ‘Telangana Day’ or ‘Telangana Formation Day’. As this year marks the 75th year of Independence, the Government of India is celebrating and commemorating India’s glorious history, its people, culture and achievements. The celebrations of AzadiKaAmritMahotsav commenced on 12th March 2021 and started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of independence. The commemorations will end post a year on 15th August 2023.
