Punjab Approves Bridge On Beas River With A Cost Of Rs. 76.83 Crores

The Punjab government has approved a High Level Bridge on River Beas crossing Sultanpur Lodhi-Chohla Sahib Road with the cost of 76.83 crores further strengthing the road network of Doaba and Majha regions. Disclosing this here today Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, Punjab said that the department had conducted a thorough study of feasibility and requirement of Bridges on various stretches of the roads in the state besides traffic density survey across the state. He said that after identifying the critical bottlenecks hindering smooth flow of traffic, the Government has given its in principal approval to a high level bridge on river Beas between Sultanpur Lodhi of Kapurthala District and Chohla Sahib of Tarn Taran district. He said that the construction on this ambitious project would be started soon as the requisite proceedings were on the advanced stage of completion.

Mr. Dhillon said that SAD-BJP government has chalked out a plan to construct bridges, widening and strengthening of roads and construction of flyovers, where needed, in the state since the department was working on this plan at ground level. He said that a special emphasis was paying by the Punjab Government in this regard to further bring improvement in the road network besides connecting all parts of the state with upgraded roads.  He further said that in 2012, the SAD-BJP Government had constructed 33 ROBs/RUBs with the cost of 564.95 crores in its previous tenure.
