Capt Amarinder thanks Sonia Gandhi, Amritsar people for becoming Deputy Leader of Opposition

Former Chief Minister and Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh today thanked the party president Sonia Gandhi for appointing him the Deputy Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party. At the same time, he thanked the people of Amritsar saying without their support it would not have been possible.In a statement issued from New Delhi and released here today, Capt Amarinder said, the new role has put an additional responsibility on his shoulders of representing the party and projecting effectively and forcefully the party point of view in the parliament besides representing the people of Amritsar.Reiterating his commitment towards the holy city of Amritsar, the former Chief Minister said, he has always felt blessed over getting a chance to represent it. “And it is only the blessing of the Guru that I have been honoured with the post of the Deputy Leader of the CPP in the Lok Sabha”, he said, while adding, he will ensure that the mission he has taken upon himself is accomplished.Capt Amarinder said, he will continue to remain available to the people of Punjab in general and Amritsar in particular despite his busy engagements in New Delhi. “I reiterate that this is just the beginning of the blessings that the holy place of Amritsar is showering on me”, he said, while adding, “it is not only an honour for me, but for all the people of Amritsar who ensured my victory and everyone in Amritsar whom I am representing in the parliament”.
