Punjab Begins Admission Process For Meritorious Students-Sikander Singh Maluka

Classes Will Start From July 1

The Punjab Government has started admission process at Six Senior Secondary Residential Schools for Meritorious Students under the newly Dr. Hargobind Khurana Scholarship Scheme. These schools are being established in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and Mohali districts to provide free quality education and hostel facilities for all the brilliant students of the government schools, who had scored 80% or above marks in the Matriculation examinations. The Education Minister Punjab  Sikander Singh Maluka said that these schools would have smart classrooms and all class rooms would be equipped with latest techniques. He further said that teaching and learning will be done through e-content. The admission process has been started and classes will begin from July 1, 2014. Minister further said that Medical, Non Medical and Commerce streams for +1 & +2 classes would be commenced in these schools besides English Speaking and Personality Development Courses would also be initiated separately so that students could compete in further exams without any problem. 

He said that Medium of study would be English and Staff of the schools would be professionally qualified. Hostel facilities will also be provided free of cost to students by the state government. Minister also said that no fee will be charged from the eligible students admitted in these smart Residential schools. He also said that hostel accommodation would be compulsory for all students. Hostel facility and Mess charges would be free of cost and special teaching classes for all competitive exams like JEE, PMT, JET etc would also be provided in the guidance of subject experts.
