Navjot Singh Sidhu Left The House With A Bag Of Clothes, Surrendered In Patiala Court

Navjot Singh Sidhu's troubles have increased as the cricketer turned politician has not gotten relief from the Supreme Court. Sidhu has surrendered in Patiala court. He has brought a bag full of clothes with him, also it has been reported that after surrendering, he can be sent to Patiala Central Jail. Let us tell you that today on 20 May Sidhu had filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court about his citing illness. But the Supreme Court refused to hear the petition immediately. 

Now Sidhu will have to surrender today and go to jail. Sidhu's lawyers were hopeful that in the afternoon again, the petitioner would demand a hearing before the Supreme Court. The hearing was not held in the Supreme Court. Had Sidhu not surrendered, then Punjab Police would have had to arrest him. Now, his lawyer says that will file an application in the Supreme Court to seek time to surrender as his counsel A M Singhvi was unsuccessful in making an urgent motion for relief before CJI NV Ramana. 

Know About The Case:

The road rage case filed against Sidhu dates back to the year 1988. Sidhu got into a fight with a 65-year-old man named Gurnam Singh over parking in Patiala. It was not just a quarrel of debate, it is alleged that there was a scuffle between the two. In which Sidhu punched Gurnam Singh and later Gurnam Singh died. In the postmortem report also, the cause of death was said to be a blow to the head. After this, the police registered a case of culpable homicide against Navjot Singh Sidhu and his friend Rupinder Singh Sidhu. Earlier, in this case, the Supreme Court had released Sidhu by imposing a fine of Rs.1000 but his family members were not happy with this decision. He filed a review petition in the Supreme Court. 

The Sessions Court Had Acquitted:

During the hearing, the sessions court acquitted Navjot Singh Sidhu in 1999 citing a lack of evidence. After this, the aggrieved party reached the High Court against the decision of the Sessions Court. In the year 2006, the High Court sentenced Navjot Singh Sidhu to three years imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees in this case. But after that, the matter reached the Supreme Court.

Congress Leaders Left Sidhu's Side:

It is reported that the Congress leaders in Punjab had left Sidhu's side and now no one is standing in his support. However, there is also news that Priyanka Gandhi had called Sidhu and gave him courage and also encouraged Sidhu to stay strong during this difficult time.
