District Environment Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner

A meeting of the District Environment Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mr. Vishesh Sarangal in which he directed the officers of the concerned departments to ensure strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal on environment and water conservation.He also reviewed the operation of solid waste management in Kapurthala district, management of plastic waste, disposal of bio-medical waste and operation of sewage treatment plants at full capacity.He said that the work on STP projects to use water for irrigation purpose should be expedited .

He also issued necessary guidelines to the officials of Sewerage Board and Pollution Control Board for achieving the targets for the seven treatment plants in the district for purification of water. Apart from this, the officials of Drainage Department were also directed to expedite the work to clean  Kali Bein .Additional Deputy Commissioner Phagwara Daljit Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ajay Arora, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Mrs. Anupam Kler  besides Pollution Control Board, Public Works Department, Drainage Department, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department and Top officials of the Municipal Corporation were also present.
