Uma Bharti Takes Oath as Member of Sixteenth Lok Sabha

Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti took the oath the as member of sixteenth Lok Sabha here today. Born on May 03, 1959 in Tikamgarh District of Madhya Pradesh in a family of peasants she joined active politics in early eighties. She was member of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Lok Sabha. She was Union Cabinet Minister for Coal, Mines, Youth Affairs & Sports. She was also Union Minister of State for Human Recourses Development and Tourism during 1998-2003. She was Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh during 2003-2004. Uma Bharti has a rare distinction of being elected to the legislative assemblies of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. She has published many books on religion and is involved in social and culture activities. Ms. Uma Bharti was elected to the sixteenth Lok Sabha from Jhansi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
